Educate the campus community on the nature and sources of official institutional data and their use. Establish Institutional Research and Decision Support as the “official” source of data representations.Collaborate with subject matter experts across campus in developing and maintaining a mature data infrastructure and warehouse that stores curated views of data that can serve as a single source of truth for the University.Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of a wide variety of data to determine trends, cycles, and underlying factors that impact student success and institutional effectiveness.Develop, maintain, and promote broad use of advanced analytics and reporting ecosystem to support understanding and decision-making across the University.
The associate vice president will manage an operation that must meet new institutional challenges for analytics and fulfill the institutional reporting requirements of regulatory bodies. As co-chair of the Management Information and Data Analytics Strategy (MIDAS) work team, the incumbent will shape the use of data as a key influencer of University planning and decision support. The incumbent will manage institutional data for a wide range of uses: budgeting and financial planning student enrollment scorecards for productivity analyses student retention and success federal and state reporting community engagement salary analyses inclusive excellence and direct research on national trends in higher education using relevant tools and data sources. The associate vice president will lead institutional research studies to meet changing needs in dynamic regional and national higher education markets.
This individual will ensure that enterprise data is collected accurately, analyzed rigorously, used appropriately, and shared with key stakeholders to make data-informed or evidence-based decisions. Working across the campus, the AVP collaborates in leading data governance and enterprise information management efforts and promoting the ongoing development of institutional analytics capability and maturity. Reporting to the chief strategy officer in the President’s office, the associate vice president (AVP) for institutional research, analytics, and decision support (IRDS) is the senior university executive responsible for leading the effective use of administrative data for reporting, analysis, and actionable insight, while providing strategic leadership for and overall management of IRDS.
